Build

The Fender Grilles and Trim

Step 01

Retrieve your Body assembly from the previous phase. Fit the Left Fender Grille into this opening on the left side of the car and align the two screw holes to the posts of the Main Body Shell, as shown:

Secure the Left Fender Grille to the Main Body Shell with two (2) EM screws.

This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Step 02

Push the pins of the two Left Grille Trim pieces into the matching holes on the outside of the Left Fender Grille.

Be sure you use the Left Grille Trim pieces (in parts bag labelled 76B) here and align them as seen below:

Gently press the pins into the metal Main Body Shell as shown. I needed to use the handle of my screwdriver to get the pins all the way in, but be careful to only push on the pins, not any other part of the trim (it can easily deform):

Step 03

In the same way as before, fit the Right Fender Grille into this opening on the right side of the car, align the two screw holes to the posts of the Main Body Shell, and secure this in place with two (2) EM screws as shown:

Step 03

And as before, push the pins of the two Right Grille Trim pieces into the matching holes on the outside of the Right Fender Grille:

Thoughts

These side Fender Grilles are such an iconic design piece for our 300 SL Gullwing! I feel they look wonderful!
