Return to the BUILD
“In this phase, you will assemble the gearbox and clutch housings. Later, both parts will be fixed to the rear end of the engine.”
Have some super glue handy for this phase – you are going to need it.

Build
The Gearbox and Clutch Housings
Step 01
Fit the Front Drive Shaft Support to the Gearshift Housing Cover (Rear) by aligning the double-keys to the matching slots:
Secure from inside the housing cover with one (1) SM screw.
This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Step 02
Insert one (1) SM screw halfway into this hole of the Gearshift Housing Cover (Front):
Insert one (1) SM screw halfway into this hole of the Gearshift Housing Cover (Rear):
Fit the Gearshift Housing Cover (Front) to the Gearbox Housing (Right) as shown, sliding the shaft of the SM screw into this slot and the long pin into the other slot. Then, tighten the screw fully.
How exactly are we supposed to tighten this screw? The big tab on the Gearbox Housing (Right) sits right in front of this screw. I ended up tightening the screw all the way separately, then pushing the cover into place and securing it with super glue:
Fit the Gearshift Housing Cover (Rear) to the Gearbox Housing (Right) as shown, sliding the shaft of the SM screw into this slot. Then, tighten the screw fully.
This also does not secure well, and required the same steps as before: tighten the screw all the way, then glue the thing in place:
It should look like this now:
Step 03
Place the Gearbox Housing (Left) over the Gearbox Housing (Right), matching this tab and slot:
When I tried to fit them together, the flange on the upper screw was blocking me from closing the case halves:
I ended up using a lot more force, and they finally popped together. These are metal parts, so I was not worried about breaking them:
Secure these housings together with two (2) MM screws:
Step 04
Retrieve the engine assembly from the previous phase. Align the tab on the end of the gearbox assembly to the rear hole in the Crankcase. Ensure the gearbox assembly is the correct way up, as shown, then secure it into place with one (1) MM screw:
Step 05
Fit the Clutch Housing over the Crankcase, as shown. Secure these together with two (2) MM screws:
Thoughts
The transmission in this car is tiny! Unfortunately, some of the design faults required the use of super glue. I am really looking forward to the next phase; this is where we will mount this engine/transmission assembly to the Main Chassis.

Phase 14 – Frame: Main Chassis
I didn’t use any super glue. The instructions for step 2 were stupid. Partially screwing in the screws and then tightening them was impossible. I was able to fully tighten them first and have it hold together, though. I was disappointed the instructions had such an obvious error.
